What We Do
Quality Youth Services (QYS) was established in 2007 and has been in business for more than sixteen years. We contract with the Department of Human Services to assist in serving our youth. Rebecca Otsuka and Tami Paxton, the founders and owners of Quality Youth Services, collaborate with their staff as therapists and evaluators. QYS places a strong emphasis on our enthusiasm for supporting youth success. Our incredible staff of therapists provides our youth and clients with the life skills they need to live healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives. Our services are available at three locations: Harrisville (our flagship location), Logan (QYS North), and Pleasant Grove (QYS South). Our treatment coordinators work closely with our staff, foster parents, and clients as we help our clients transition out of our program.
Clinical Services
QYS offers individual, family, and couples therapy. We also offer support groups as well as group therapy. Our therapists are trained in a variety of modalities and issues to help clients heal and lead healthy, happy lives. Our therapists are specially trained in specific modalities to best meet your needs. Group therapy and other support groups are an effective way to heal, learn new skills, and meet others who are going through the same thing.
Foster & Proctor Parents
Foster and Proctor parents, also referred to as professional parents, are single individuals or married couples who provide care to children placed in their homes. Proctor parents provide a home family environment, nutritious meals, companionship, guidance, and physical, social, and emotional care. Proctor care may be short-term or long-term depending upon the needs of the child and his/her family. We work for youth and families, and we conscientiously focus on what works for kids the first time. At QYS, we apply a systems and team approach to the youth we work with. Programming includes individual, family, and group therapy, medication management, psychosocial rehabilitation services, and other skills groups. We also provide mentoring and tracking for the youth in our care. Also, 24-hour on-call staff members are available in case of emergency.
State Services
Quality Youth Services works closely with the Utah Department of Human Services' Child and Family Services (DCFS) and the Division of Juvenile Justice Youth Services (DJJYS). We work hard to improve the lives of the children, youth, and their families we work with. We work for youth and families, and we conscientiously try to do what works for kids the first time. We offer a team approach to focus on the entire system. This programming includes individual, family, and group therapy, medication management, psychosocial rehabilitation services, and other skills groups. We also provide mentoring and tracking for the youth in our care. We apply a multisystemic approach to the youth we work with. Likewise, we provide Foster/Proctor Care as well as a Transition to Adult Living (TAL) program for our youth.
We Advocate For Children and Families
We provide a team approach to address the system as a whole. Individual, family, and group therapy, medication management, psychosocial rehabilitation services, and other skill groups are all part of this program. Additionally, we provide youth in our care with mentoring and tracking services. We apply a multisystemic approach to the youth we work with. We focus on treating the whole person within the system they live in when possible.
Foster care is a temporary solution for kids who are not safe in their own homes. Unless the children's safety requirements or legal mandates require otherwise, every effort is made to keep children with their families. When a child is placed in foster care, the objective is to provide stability, safety, long-term relationships, a sense of family, and a sense of belonging in the least restrictive environment possible. Reunification is the primary goal.
Children in foster care typically have supervised visits with their biological parents on a regular basis. As guardians progress toward their appointed objectives and goals, the reunification process starts Supervised, short-term visits, and end-of-the-week visits are all a part of the process as well. Parents collaborate with our staff and DCFS, providing in-home services and additional support to ensure a smooth transition for the parents and their children once they return home.
Quality Youth Services:
Foster Care, Resource Family, and Proctor Parents: The overall purpose of foster care is to place children in a safe home with the goal of having them be reunited with their permanent families. Foster care embodies a temporary home for children that offers them safety and love.
Social Services Organization: Through our partnerships with other organizations and private citizens, we team up to meet the spiritual, mental, emotional, educational, social, cultural, and physical needs of children and their families.
Mental Health Service: Individual, family, and couple therapy are all available through QYS Clinical and Mental Health Services. In addition, we provide group therapy and support groups. Our therapists are trained in a variety of modalities to assist clients in healing and leading happy, healthy lives.
Mental Health Clinics: Our team includes staff at three locations: Harrisville (our flagship location), Logan (QYS North), and Pleasant Grove (QYS South). Our treatment coordinators work closely with our staff, proctor parents, and clients as we help our clients transition out of our program.
Mental and Behavioral Health Counselor: As mental and behavioral health counselors, we empathize. Parenting a child with a difficult history and emotional needs is even more challenging. We take the time to listen to your worries and work with you.
Foster Care Parent Training & Certification: If fostering has been on your mind and heart for a long time, and now you're ready to welcome a child in need, we can help. The fundamental requirements are generally the same: You must be at least a 21-year-old age, have completed a training and background check, and be willing to work with the child's family and professional team to ensure the child's permanent residence.
Youth Social Services Organization: Children gain access to more resources and receive a wider range of support when we collaborate with other programs. Children's safety is improved overall when teams share responsibility for identifying issues and providing treatment.
Youth Organization: our youth organization services assist in the transition from foster care to adult living. Transition to Adult Living (TAL) is designed for male and female youth ages 17-21 who are transitioning out of a residential care setting. We offer structured apartment settings within licensed foster homes to assist with TAL.
Therapeutic Foster Care: We teach you how to assist with behavior tracking, meeting with a care manager, and accompanying a child to scheduled therapy meetings. The objective of treatment is to assist the child in becoming ready for adoption or returning home. The youth's acuity level, diagnosis, and treatment plan all influence how long they spend in your home.
Marriage and Family Counseling: Our supportive therapists are trained in research-backed modalities and are there to provide a safe space for healing and solutions to take place so clients can live their lives to the fullest. Our marriage and family counseling service is especially beneficial for blended families.
